What Are Your Fertility Treatment Options

Melissa knows that falling pregnant isn’t always easy. Your path to starting a family is a very individual, and sometimes emotional, journey.

Taking a holistic approach to fertility, Melissa explores all possibilities to help a couple enhance their natural chances of conception, and will discuss all options available to you before advising of any advanced treatments. Melissa is experienced in diagnosing and treating a diverse range of fertility issues including complex cases. She works closely with her patients to tailor a fertility treatment plan specific to each couple’s individual circumstance.

One of only a few female Fertility Specialists in Brisbane who is also an Obstetrician, Melissa can offer her patients a high level of continuity of care — from fertility planning and treatment, to conception, and through to pregnancy and birth.

Pre-Pregnancy and Fertility Planning

Our aim is to provide you with the best chance of a successful pregnancy and healthy baby.

During your first consultation, Melissa can help you understand and monitor your ovulation cycle to identify your most fertile days, and review your lifestyle factors that may be affecting your fertility, such as diet, weight, alcohol, drugs, smoking and exercise. Improving your general health may help increase your likelihood of conceiving.

Melissa will discuss any previous pregnancies or pregnancy loss and assess any measures that may help reduce the chance of recurrence. These may include pre-pregnancy genetic testing and counselling if there is a significant risk of a chromosomal or genetic condition based on you or your partner’s family history.

Fertility Treatment Options

Encouraging couples to explore all options available to them, Melissa takes the time to help patients understand each process, ensuring she answers all questions in a generous and unhurried consultation.

Advanced Treatments

Melissa specialises in the following fertility treatments:

  • In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
  • Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
  • Assisted Reproductive Treatments (ART)
  • Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

Fertility Preservation

There are many options available for fertility preservation for both men and women including the freezing of eggs, embryo, ovarian tissue, semen and testicular tissues, or the use of medications to assist in protecting the ovaries during chemotherapy or other treatments.

Many women may wish to preserve their embryos following an IVF cycle, or if they feel they aren’t ready to have a baby yet but their age is advancing. Other patients may consider fertility preservation if they have a serious illness.

Melissa can discuss the process with you and, in partnership with QFG, can assist you in preserving your fertility for the future.

The costs involved will depend entirely upon your individual circumstances, diagnosis and specific treatment plan. The costs will also depend on your private health cover rebate and whether you are eligible and registered for the Medicare Safety Net. We will discuss the estimated costs with you before you commence any treatment.
